There was a formidable force of the Georgia Militia fighting the backwoods, particularly during the occupation of Charleston and Savannah. If you did not find your soldier in the Continental Records, search the service records on Georgia Pioneers. here Once you discover which battalion they served under, then you can search out the history of these units and better understand their service. For example, the 4th Georgia Regiment was an infantry unit(part of the Georgia Line) raised for service with the Continental Army who fought at the Siege of Savannah in 1779.
Occasionally, one finds affidavits of soldiers who gave service in the “county records”, moreso in North Carolina than anywhere else.
