The Fun of Discovering Generations of Families
Going back in time, down through the generations, we discover exciting families that played a part in history but did not know it. We can pass through the Middle Ages of castles and swords to the invention of some pretty spiffy automobiles! If we pause, we can discover the “inventors.” Each age had new ideas and heroes. One can imagine shivering in a cold, dark castle or onlookers standing on a dirt road, observing Henry Ford testing his new automobile.
The stories are found in the desires and aspirations of families who experienced the struggles of an earlier era: the first chapter details where they lived, their occupations, their dresses, and their hairstyles. The second chapter of ships reveals a thundering scene of stormy seas, disease, sickness, and death before delivering their families to the shores of America. The third chapter opens with wagon trains of pioneer families from Ireland, Scotland, and Germany crossing the American frontier. The fourth chapter is the struggle to survive in a wilderness country against Indian attacks. The fifth chapter details the experience of fighting a war against the trained armies of Great Britain. Need I go on?
How did our ancestors survive such intense sorrows and hardships? They craved religious and individual freedom and left their homes to find it. What I have described comes from personal research on hundreds of family trees. The blood of our ancestors is in our veins. We inherited their courage, trust, faith, and endurance to arise daily and work at something.
The family tree is the essence of our first breath — the great generations who came before us set the goalposts. Click on the link below to search for your ancestors.
